The Let’s Eat team has assembled some outstanding items which can be bid on by March 23rd We will be offering a round of golf at the beautiful Maryland Golf and Country Club in Bel Air. The gift includes a fabulous lunch after your round at the club’s restaurant. This offering is a $500 value and all proceeds benefit those we serve daily in Greater Baltimore. Grant applications submitted

Recently appointed, Vice President of Development, Mary Murtaugh Shaw, wasted no time preparing and delivering grant proposals to several Baltimore Foundations. Ms. Shaw joined the Let’s Eat Board of Directors in January 2026. St Patrick’s Day

While many are celebrating this special day on the Irish calendar, the Let’s Eat team will be filling the food pantry of Baybrook Elementary School in Curtis Bay. Thanks to a generous grant from Food Lion supermarkets which was orchestrated by United Way of Central Maryland , Let’s Eat will bring thousands of pounds of food, meats and produce to this school. Let’s Eat Founder, Catherine Morneault, will be spearheading the collection and the distribution of our donated foods.

University of Baltimore Career and Internship Center

Let’s Eat Board Chairman, John P. Scollan, announced today that Let’s Eat will for the second consecutive semester hire an intern from the university. Last semester’s intern flourished as the nonprofit’s Manager of Social Media. This semester our UB intern, a Dean’s List accounting major, will work with financial compliance, reconciling financial records and assessing grant opportunities. Basically Let’s Eat believes that our mandate is to help disadvantaged people succeed in society. Yes, we provide essential food and nutrition, but what we really provide is love, compassion and kindness to all.

I believe that same spirit of philanthropy and volunteerism is still part of the fabric of America. I know so because at Let’s Eat I see it every week.

Career Week UBalt.

On February 24th Let’s Eat Board Chairman, John P. Scollan will attend the University of Baltimore Career Week which students get to meet with area employers and nonprofits to explore career opportunities after graduation. Let’s Eat has worked with the University’s Internship Center in the past very successfully. Giving While Living

We salute perhaps the greatest philanthropist who nobody knew. New Jersey native, Chuck Feeney, created the Duty Free Shops at airports around the world. He was rewarded for his vision by becoming a multi-billionaire when amassing a billion dollars was a rare feat. Mr Feeney never cared much about personal wealth and status. Some stats on giving

A national survey in 2009 discovered that about half of the women surveyed made the family’s decision on which nonprofits to give to and in what amounts. This is consistent with the Let’s Eat donors data where women represent almost 80% of our donors and volunteers. Actually, women are more important to the mission of Let’s Eat than men. We are woman founded and women managed.

The word philanthropist derives from the Greek philanthropus which translates as “love of humankind “ Things have not changed in several millennia. When you give to Let’s Eat, you are really giving to humankind in Greater Baltimore.

What is a philanthropist

A philanthropist is anyone who gives anything- time, money, experience, skills, and networks in any amount to create a better world. We think at Let’s Eat we measure up quite nicely with this definition.

Youth Homelessness

According to the Center on State Legislatures it is estimated that about 4.2 million kids from 8 to 18 experienced homelessness last year. A very large percentage of homeless youth reside in Greater Baltimore. As part of our mission Let’s Eat serves many of these kids through our 25 partnerships. Please help us do more for this population of children in desperate need. Donate today.
